29th May – Reopening Announced

We are very pleased to hear that Dental Practices can begin to reopen from 8th June.

We have spent time over the last 10 weeks  to prepare for our reopening. However it will not be a straight ‘back to normal’ return.

We have always taken the safety of our patients and staff as paramount importance and will be adopting all new procedures and PPE to ensure that this continues. Due to social distancing and new guidelines our initial capacity to see patients will be reduced. Please be patient as we prioritise your care.

PPE continues to be in short supply, and at the beginning of lockdown we donated our surplus to Torbay Hospital and Marie Curie Nurses. We have procured some PPE but we are waiting for back orders of more stock to arrive.

We are very aware that many patients have been in pain and discomfort and we will be in touch with you to offer you appointments at the end of next week. We will also be commencing our much needed routine work as soon as we possibly can.

Please only call the surgery this week if you are experiencing pain, swelling, bleeding or trauma.

Please do not attend the surgery unless you have an appointment.

We hope to see you all very soon.

But if you should have severe pain, swelling or bleeding or trauma during this time please call the usual surgery number 01803 298032 and you will be given a message with the contact details of the dentist on call. Please note the message will change each day. There is an answer machine if you need to leave us a message about the new year. Alternatively give us a call from the 2nd January and we will be happy to help.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our patients a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.  See you in 2018!

Summer holidays

Rob will be taking a break for the last two weeks of August 21st-1st September as will some other staff members but the practice will remain open for the majority of this period. There will be a dentist covering Rob for emergency treatment only for this time. Please call the practice as normal if you have an emergency situation and speak to Mandy or the answer machine will give instructions on how to contact the dentist on call.  We will also be available to deal with appointments or other queries or you can leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We hope all our patients have a lovely summer and that we may see a bit more sunshine yet!

New website

The practice website has been updated. We hope that you can find all the information that you require. If you have any suggestions that may improve the site please let us know.

Patient Questionnaires

We will be asking some patients to complete patient questionnaires. This is an important way of us getting feedback from you and we appreciate your cooperation with this. The feedback has been very positive. We aim to continue to provide first class care to all our patients. If you would like to fill out a questionnaire or would like to put a comment in the suggestion box please speak to Mandy on reception.

Mouth Cancer and HPV Vaccine

Mouth Cancer
It is thought that early diagnosis of mouth cancer can transform survival rates from 50% to 90%. At every check up appointment your mouth will be routinely checked for any abnormalities and if any problem areas are detected this will be discussed with you.

HPV Vaccine
Girls are routinely vaccinated at the age of 12 against the Human Papillomavirus which can cause cervical cancer. This virus can also cause anal cancer, genital warts and oral and throat cancer. There has been calls in the dental press recently for all boys to also be vaccinated. The BDA  are asking for members of the public to write to their MP in support of boys being vaccinated.

Car Park
We are a busy practice and it is not always possible for our patients to park on our drive. There is plenty of free parking on the surrounding roads and we would be grateful if patients would allow themselves sufficient time to park before their appointment.
